Piantao
"The Argentine red"
PIANTAO, arises from a particular fermentation and evolution of a Cabernet Franc from Tupungato that in its beginnings did not show its true potential, but upon reaching its destination it became the “loquito” that ended up teaching us the purest essence of who it wanted to be. This dream wine is a blend of Cabernet Franc and small proportions of other strains from different barrels, taking an unexpected path that ultimately became a treasure. And so it was born, ¨Piantao, Piantao, Piantao...¨ as the tango Ballada para un Loco says.
Tasting notes:
View: Bright deep red with violet hues. Nose: Elegant and complex, with spicy aromas, pepper, field herbs, pondering the descriptors of Cabernet Franc. Mouth: The palate is broad, with juicy and friendly tannins, with textures and a persistent finish.

Features
Gualtallary, Tupungato, Mendoza. 5 year old espalier. Alluvial soil, with a large amount of sand on the surface, after two meters we find pebble stone with a high calcium carbonate content.
- Vinification: The grapes are vatted in cement tanks separately and at different harvest times. The production technique during alcoholic fermentation is very simple. The temperature is allowed to increase naturally as the native yeasts begin to ferment the must, until it reaches 28ºC. During this period we control that it does not rise further using the exchange plates located inside the vessels. Once the fermentation is finished, 100% of the wine is devatted directly into French oak barrels (30% unused – 70% 3rd, 4th use). There malolactic fermentation occurs. After the winter, all the barrels are emptied and filled again so that the wine can age for 36 months.
- Harvest: The Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon are harvested on the same day, by hand, in 16 kilo boxes, during the early hours of the morning.
- Region: Gualtallary, Tupungato, Valle de Uco.
- Oenologist: Juan Pablo Michelini.
- Varietal composition: 90% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Syrah
- Alcoholic Graduation: 14,5%
